Portland police charge suspect accused of assaulting woman

Portland Police say a local transient is accused of hitting a woman in the face and threatening her with a gun.

Police say the incident happened around 10:30 a.m. on Thursday on Riverside Street. A 41-year-old woman told officers that she knew the suspect, Marcus Trusty. She told them he hit her in the face, grabbed her throat, and threatened to shoot her.

Police arrested Trusty and recovered the weapon from a nearby dumpster.

He faces several charges including domestic violence assault and illegal possession of a firearm by a felon.
