PORTLAND (WGME) — Portland police arrested a man on Sunday, accusing him of pointing a handgun at passing cars.

Police first got a call at 11:33am. When officers arrived at 62 State Street, the man was still showing the gun. Police say he ran away from officers and into the apartment building at that address.

After hours of negotiations and the use of what police call “chemical munitions”, 24-year-old Carlos Dubon was taken into custody shortly before 5pm. He faces a variety of charges.

26-year-old Jose Dubon was also arrested on an obstruction charge.

State Street was closed off for hours during the incident. There were no reported injuries.

Earlier in the afternoon a witness close to the scene told CBS 13 she was on the roof of a nearby building and heard an officer say “stop, drop your gun.”
