PORTLAND (WGME) – The sound of gunshots woke Nimo Abdi and her four young children around 3 a.m. Saturday.

Police Police say two different shootings in the Riverton Park Housing Complex disrupted the hundreds of people living there.

Around 8 p.m. Friday, on person reported hearing gunshots from the area of Springbrook Way.

One witness told police that multiple vehicles had left the area just after the gunshots were fired.

Police then returned early this morning to Abdi’s residence at 1 Springbrook Way.

Abdi told police her window had been shot out.

Police also found one of the bullets had passed through the wall of one of her children’s bedrooms.

Westbrook Police then reported a 20-year-old Portland woman had fled to their city after being shot while sitting in a car on Springbrook Way.

She sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Abdi says she and her kids are in absolute shock.

“So, I hear the gun outside. So, when I wake up the gun has come through to my house. I’m very shocked,” said Abdi. “I checked the window, outside the window is broken. It’s too scary. Very scary.”

Portland Police haven’t said whether they believe the shootings are related.

Investigators are asking the public to come forward if they have information to help them in this case.

They are emphasizing that hundreds of people, and children, were likely home when these shootings happened.
