A Portland police officer has tested positive for the coronavirus.

Chief Frank Clark said Thursday that the veteran officer is currently in quarantine outside of the state.

It wasn’t immediately clear how the officer contracted the virus.

Clark said the Portland Police Department has closed to the public, with the exception of the lobby.

He says they’ve stepped up cleaning efforts inside the station. The same goes for their vehicles.

Clark assured the public its police force remains strong.
