Portland police search for suspect in grocery store robbery

PORTLAND, Maine (WGAN) Portland police are investigating a robbery at a Shaw’s Supermarket on Monday.

Police say the robbery at the Shaw’s at 1364 Congress Street was reported around 12:18 p.m. Monday. No one was hurt and the suspect fled outbound on Congress with an undisclosed amount of cash. He didn’t reveal a weapon, but kept his hand in his pocket while he demanded cash.

An officer along with a K9 tracked the suspect through the parking lot on to Westland Avenue and back on to Congress before the dog stopped tracking.

The suspect is described as a white male wearing gray sweatpants, a white t-shirt, dark beanie cap with a white logo, sunglasses, and a blue medical mask.
