Portland shooting death ruled a homicide

The shooting death of a 26-year-old man in Portland has been ruled a homicide.

Officers responded to a report of shots fired near Sherman and Mellen Streets around 9:45 Tuesday night.

26-year-old Tyler Flexon was taken to Maine Medical Center to be treated for a gunshot wound, where he later died.

An autopsy was conducted the following day, and his death was ruled a homicide. There was no word of any arrests related to the investigation.

Police say they don’t believe the incident was random and they don’t believe there’s any danger to the public.
