A Portland tech startup, whose goal is to help scientists find cures, has won a prestigious national award for the creation of cutting-edge technologies.
According to our info partners at CCBS 13, RockStep Solutions is a software developer that organizes a company’s scientific data, and securely puts it on the cloud, where scientists can access that data from anywhere.
Their clients include university researchers and companies in both the biotech and pharmaceutical industries.
Its founders say by organizing this data, and making it accessible to scientists, they can speed up research, and get new drugs and cures to market faster.
“We are mission-driven to help get cures to market faster,” RockStep Solutions CEO Chuck Donnelly said. “That’s what we get up in the morning eager about.”
“Ultimately, where we really were passionate about being was in the drug discovery side of things,” RockStep Solutions President Julie Morrison said. “Right now it takes about 10 to 15 years to get one drug from concept to market. If we can even shave a few years off of that, that’s significant for patients in need.”
During the pandemic, RockStep’s platforms allowed scientists to work safely from home and continue their research.
The company is only 6 years old.
