PORTLAND, Maine (WGAN) The City of Portland says East End Beach is back open after the result of a water test came back Tuesday.

The East End Wastewater Treatment Plant malfunctioned due to a power outage Sunday morning. Officials said an unknown amount of wastewater was released in Casco Bay as a result.

The city said the result from one sample came back Tuesday and was well below the state threshold, prompting them to open the beach back up.

Officials are still awaiting the results from additional test samples.
