The Tuesday storm cut power to more than 60,000 homes and businesses that rely on Central Maine Power. Emera Maine also reported more than 10,000 power outages. The two carriers reported that outages were down to only about a couple thousand CMP customers by midday Wednesday.
Emera Maine says it’s preparing for another day of difficult conditions on Thursday. The utility says forecasters have predicted wind gusts could reach 45 mph in northern and eastern Maine during the day on Thursday.
Emera is asking customers to prioritize safety if another string of outages takes place.
