Maine State Police say Exit 42 on the Maine Turnpike southbound in Scarborough was closed Wednesday after a propane truck went off the road and rolled over.

Shortly after 10:30 a.m., state police released an update that said the exit would remain closed for 6 to 8 hours.

Police said the propane would need to be pumped out of the tank before the truck can be removed.

State police later said they expected traffic in the area to be stopped for 30 minutes sometime between 10 p.m. and 1 a.m. to clear the scene.

The driver was taken to the hospital for an evaluation.

Police did not immediately provide details about what led up to the accident.
