Transportation officials hope to reduce rush hour traffic in Gorham and Scarborough by building a connector.

The proposed six-mile highway would be four lanes wide and cost $220 million, according to CBS 13 News.

The Maine Turnpike Authority says most of the connector would be built on undeveloped land.

Part of the golf course at Gorham Country Club and a hayfield at Smiling Hill Farm could be cut through as part of construction.
