Racist and threatening messages were reportedly found in a bathroom stall in a Maine high school.

Spruce Mountain High School principal Thomas Plourde says a criminal threatening investigation is underway.

The Spruce Mountain school district serves families from Jay, Livermore and Livermore Falls.

In a message to the school community, Plourde said “a serious written attack on members of our high school community was revealed,” and it “will not be tolerated.”

According to CBS 13, Plourde said the messages found in a stall in a boy’s bathroom were also racist and included hate speech.

He said any students found to be responsible for the messages will be held accountable.
