During the Christmas week, travel is expected to increase, with over 119 million people traveling nationally, a rise of 3 million from last year.  Dan Goodman from AAA Northern New England, spoke to WGAN Morning News. In New England, nearly 4 million people will travel by car, with a significant increase in cruising. Road safety concerns include a rise in alcohol-related crashes, speeding, and distracted driving.

As far as weather, we also spoke with Senior Meteorologist Joe Lundberg. The weather forecast predicts a potential white Christmas with 1-3 inches of snow in the Portland metro area and up to 5 inches in the north. Temperatures are expected to moderate slightly, reaching around 30 degrees on Christmas Day. Travelers are advised to be cautious and aware of road conditions.
