Central Maine Power’s request for a rate hike was approved by utility regulators on Tuesday.

The agreement means a typical residential CMP customer will see their electric bill increase by $1.67 a month, rising to about $5 by the middle of 2025.

The Maine Public Utilities Commission approved the agreement on Tuesday.

CMP says the increase is to fund reliability improvements, clean energy investments and making the system more resilient to storms.
