Beaches at Reid State Park on the Midcoast were closed all weekend after two shark sightings.

The beach opened briefly Saturday after the first sighting Friday, but closed later Saturday after a second shark was spotted.

The town of Georgetown said Sunday that swimming on Mile, Half Mile and East beach would remain closed, due to a heavy presence of seals and baitfish close to shore.

There have been numerous recent shark sightings off Maine shores, including several off Pine Point Beach in Scarborough last week.
