LEBANON (WGME) — Maine State Police say the remains discovered last week near 340 TM Wentworth Road in Lebanon have been identified as 55-year-old Dale Godfrey of Lebanon.

Godfrey was last seen fleeing his Lebanon home following a violent domestic violence assault around 4 a.m. on April 26th, 2017.

Police say a wallet with Godfrey’s identification was found near the remains, and clothing at the scene matched a description of Godfrey when he went missing.

The Medical Examiner’s Office has not released the cause of Godfrey’s death.
