The remains of Cathy Pride, who was reported missing by her family on May 8, 2019, were recovered on April 5, 2022 in a wooded, industrial area off of Odlin Rd. in Bangor, according to a press release from the Portland Police Department.

A passerby spotted her remains and contacted the Bangor Police Department who conducted an investigation into her death, Major Robert M. Martin wrote in the release.

Detectives from both the Bangor and Portland Police Departments worked to gather information of her whereabouts leading up to her death.

The remains were examined by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner and the cause and manner of death have not been determined, however, at this time, police do not believe her death to be suspicious.

The Portland Police Department currently has six active missing person investigations with one person who has been missing for almost 50 years.

Each of these missing persons cases is assigned to a detective and their case files are regularly reviewed, Martin said.

According to the release, each missing person has been entered into the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System along with a sample of their DNA.

Members of the public can search their site for information on these or other missing persons.

If anyone has any information that might help with any of these missing person investigations they are asked to call (207) 874-8575.

Each of these individuals have family and friends that would like to know what happened to their loved one, the release said.
