Rep. Poliquin Suffers ‘Minor Bruises’ when Train Hits Truck

WASHINGTON, D.C. (AP)   A spokesman says Republican Rep. Bruce Poliquin of Maine suffered a “few minor bruises” but is OK after an Amtrak train hit a truck.

The train was bringing lawmakers and aides to a policy retreat in West Virginia when the crash happened Wednesday near Charlottesville, Virginia.

The White House confirming one fatality and one serious injury, but Amtrak said no members of Congress or congressional staff members on the train were hurt.

Brendan Conley, spokesman for Poliquin, confirmed that the congressman was among those on the train.

Lawmakers are heading to their annual legislative retreat at the Greenbrier resort in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia.
