Pittsfield man killed in armed police standoff

PITTSFIELD (WGME) – A Pittsfield man is dead after an armed confrontation with Maine State Police on Friday.

Around 8:00 A.M Friday morning, police were called to Detroit Street in Pittsfield for a domestic disturbance involving 27-year-old, Gregory L. Lassalle, stated Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss.

According to Moss, Corporal Paul Casey and Sgt. J.B MacDonald tried to persuade Lasselle to surrender for 12 hours, which led to an armed confrontation and Lasselle’s death on the scene.

The Maine Attorney General’s Office is investigating the conditions of Lasselle’s death.
