Classes are back in session in the RSU 13 district after 12-year-old Brayden Callahan died from being run over by a school bus in Rockland more than a week ago.

Students taking the bus Monday were greeted by their driver and a volunteer staff member who rode along.

The school superintendent says the bus involved in the crash, bus 9, has been decommissioned and replaced by bus 3, which is taking the same route with a substitute driver. Several counselors were on board Monday morning.

The superintendent says the district is working with the department of education on getting a replacement bus for the fleet.

The bus driver involved in the fatal crash, Jeffrey Colburn, is on administrative leave.

The Rockland police chief has asked for patience from the public as they continue to investigate the crash.
