Rumford man drowns in boating accident on pond in Livermore

LIVERMORE, Maine (WGAN) A Rumford man has died after the boat he was in overturned on a pond in Livermore Friday afternoon.

According to the Sun Journal, the incident happened on Brettuns Pond around 1 p.m. Officials say the 88-year-old, whose identity has not yet been released, was in the boat when it overturned and drowned. Two others, a man and a woman, were able to make it to shore and survived.

The Maine Warden Service is investigating, and say it’s not yet clear what caused the boat to overturn.
