Democrats in the Maine House of Representatives have nominated Ryan Fecteau to serve as the next speaker of the House.

The 28-year-old lawmaker from Biddeford is entering his fourth term in the Maine House. Also running for the spot was Representative Seth Berry of Bowdoinham.

Republicans, who hold a minority in the Maine House and Senate, selected Kathleen Dillingham to serve as House Minority Leader last week.

Democrat Senator Nate Libby will continue serving as Senate Majority Leader. Democrat Troy Jackson is also likely to stay on as Senate President once that’s finalized in an official vote next month, according to the Portland Press Herald.

Republican Jeff Timberlake was chosen by his party to serve as Senate Minority leader.
