The driver of a utility truck was arrested after leading police on a chase and crashing into a Maine State Police cruiser.

An officer was heading south on Route 35 in Lyman around 10:15 a.m. Tuesday when he spotted a Maine Water Company truck being driven erratically. He attempted to pull the truck over, but the driver took off, leading the officer on a chase. The driver was stopped but then backed into the cruiser when the officer stepped out, putting the cruiser out of commission.

The truck driver was later stopped after crashing in Lyman. Police said the driver, 39-year-old Ricky Cooper of Saco, had stolen the truck and was on four sets of bail conditions.

He was being treated for non life threatening injuries and will face several charges upon release.
