Saddleback ski mountain reopens after a 5-year hiatus

PORTLAND, Maine (AP) Maine’s Saddleback Mountain is reopening in the middle of a global pandemic but there’s a silver lining.

General Manager Andy Shepard sees potential good news in that people are hankering to get outside, and the ski mountain is ready to welcome them.

The ski mountain closed abruptly in 2015 despite a loyal following. Under new ownership, the resort is resumed operations Tuesday.

Nationwide, there are about 430 ski areas, and ski mountain closings are more common than openings. So the Saddleback reopening was a cause for celebration for the community.
