Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s deputy faces aggravated assault charges

Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Deputy Matthew Shiers has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault.

According to our info partners at CBS 13 News, the charges stem from an alleged incident on June 23 in West Bath.

Shiers was taken to the Cumberland County Jail, and has been released on bail. He is currently on unpaid administrative leave pending the results of the investigation.

Shiers has worked for the Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Office since 2006.
