PORTLAND, Maine (WGAN)   A Sanford man has been sentenced to five years behind bars for transporting child pornography.

United States Attorney Halsey Frank says 38-year-old Rusty Hood was sentenced in U.S. District Court in Portland Thursday.  Hood, who pleaded guilty in January, was also sentenced to ten years of supervised release.

According to court documents, Hood chatted online with an individual from Ohio in May 2016.  During the chat, the men exchanged images of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

Court documents say Hood claimed during that chat he was interested in babies and that he had engaged in sexual activity with a young girl.
