Sanford Police Investigating Sunday Night Stabbing at Mall

Police are searching for the suspect after they say a 59-year-old man was stabbed at the Family Dollar in Midtown Mall in Sanford around 10 p.m. Sunday.

Officers say they found Robert Wilson on his knees with bystanders actively controlling the bleeding.

The victim was taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland for treatment of stab wounds to his back and left side and police say he’s currently in stable condition.

Officers say they have leads on the identity of the suspect who was last seen wearing blue jeans, a backward-facing hat, and a multi-colored hooded sweatshirt.

Police say the suspect also stole a backpack from the scene. At 10:24 pm Sunday, the York County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit arrived to assist in tracking the suspect.

An investigation is ongoing.
