School bus gets rear-ended by vehicle in Lewiston

A school bus in Lewiston was rear-ended on Friday morning.

Superintendent Jake Langlais says the bus was on its way to Montello Elementary School when it was struck by a vehicle near Pierce and Pine Streets.

According to CBS 13, Langlais says there was no major damage to the bus, and no one was hurt.

Accidents like this one have been on the rise in Maine, with at least five crashes involving school buses over the last two weeks.

Similar incidents were reported in Kingfield, Raymond, York and Orrington.

Police are reminding people to avoid distracted driving and come to a stop when they see a school bus with its lights flashing and stop arm extended.
