Search crews locate body of missing Saint George woman

The body of a missing Knox County woman was found in the water on Friday.

Game wardens say the body of 71-year-old Francine Laporte of Saint George was found around 10 a.m. Friday in the water on the shore off Long Cove near States Point Road.

She was reported missing by her husband on Wednesday after she left the house on foot and never returned.

Laporte’s body was taken to the medical examiner’s office where an autopsy was expected to take place.
