ST. GEORGE, Maine (WGAN) Maine’s Marine Patrol is searching for a clammer who disappeared off the coast of St. George during the blizzard.

The Coast Guard identified the man as 35-year-old Paul Brenner, and say he was reported missing around 11 p.m. Thursday night and was last seen that evening. A family member contacted the Department of Public Safety in Augusta, which then prompted the Coast Guard and Maine Marine Patrol to begin a search.

The family member reported that Brenner departed from the Long Cove Boat Ramp at 5 p.m. to clam on Clark Island off Long Clove, and did not return later in the evening.

Helicopter crews from Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod have also joined in the search.

St. George is a coastal area located about 46 miles (74 kilometers) southeast of Augusta. The Coast Guard says the water temperature in the area is about 37 degrees, with seas about 3 feet deep.
