Police in Waldo County say a Searsport man was killed after his motorcycle went off the road.

The Waldo County Sheriff’s Office say they received the call just before 2:30 Tuesday morning on Fort Knox Road in Prospect near the entrance to the Penobscot Narrows Bridge.

27-year-old Kory Schmidt lost control of the vehicle, causing it to overturn and slide across the pavement before coming to a rest in the ditch. He died at the scene as a result of his injuries.

Police are investigating what caused the crash as they work to reconstruct it.
