Second Mainer accused of breaking into the U.S. Capitol in January

A second person from Maine has been arrested in connection with the breach of the U.S. Capitol in January.

The FBI’s Boston Division said 34-year-old Nicholas Hendrix of Gorham was arrested without incident Thursday afternoon.

He faces a handful of charges, including Violent Entry and Disorderly Conduct on Capitol Grounds. According to the criminal complaint, photos and video show he was inside the Capitol for less than two minutes. He says he then attempted to enter a second time but was hit with pepper-spray.

He also told investigators he didn’t steal or break anything while he was inside.

Hendrix was expected to make his initial court appearance Thursday afternoon via video.

It brings the total number of people arrested by the FBI Boston Division in connection with the Capitol breach to eight.
