Maine’s Secretary of State is handing off an investigation to the state attorney general after 250 absentee ballots were delivered to a home before the election in November.

The ballots showed up at a home in Newburgh the same day that the town of Ellsworth says the same number of ballots went missing.

Secretary of State Shenna Bellows told our info partners at CBS 13 they’re taking the incident seriously but stressed that election integrity was maintained.

State officials say the ballots were blank and couldn’t have been used without signed envelopes.
