Augusta (WGME) – As the 131st legislature officially adjourned, several lawmakers bid farewell to the Maine State House due to term limits. Among them is Senate President Troy Jackson, who has faithfully represented part of Aroostook County for two decades.
Jackson’s political journey began in 1998 when he took a stand by blocking the Canadian border. His protest aimed to highlight companies hiring Canadian workers over Maine loggers. Over the years, he climbed the political ladder, eventually assuming the role of Maine Senate President six years ago.
Throughout his career, Jackson remained committed to serving the people of Maine. “I know for a fact that over that time, I’ve helped people, and that’s what it was always about,” he emphasized. Despite occasional disagreements, he consistently prioritized the best interests of the state’s residents.
As he steps away from the State House, Jackson leaves the door open for future endeavors. While not ruling out the possibility of seeking higher office, he currently plans to focus on spending quality time with his family.
