Maine Senator Susan Collins is happy after a meeting with Elon Musk on Capitol Hill.

Collins will chair the powerful Senate Appropriations Commitee starting next month, and Musk will co-chair the so-called Department of Government Efficiency in the upcoming Trump administation.

Collins told reporters she was impressed with the energy and dedication of Musk, who has pledged to slash federal spending and regulations once President-elect Donald Trump takes office.

Musk co-chairs the Department of Government Efficiency , also known as DOGE, with conservative activist and former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy

Politico reports Collins described her meeting with Musk as “an informal one-on-one discussion” that lasted more than an hour.

She said the conversation focused on “how we could improve the efficiency and effectiveness of government to better serve the American people and to save taxpayer dollars.”

“We did not go through any kind of list of cuts or anything like that,” Collins added.
