Maine’s congressional delegation confirmed as Capitol goes on lockdown

All four members of Maine’s congressional delegation are safe after demonstrators stormed the Capitol building to create chaos.

Rep. Chellie Pingree, a Democrat, put the blame squarely on Republican President Donald Trump. She said Trump incited the “unprecedented lawlessness” to “undermine the peaceful transfer of power.”

Republican Sen. Susan Collins and independent Sen. Angus King, along with Democratic Rep. Jared Golden, were also in safe locations.

President Trump posted a tweet urging peace Wednesday afternoon:
