Maine’s Congressional delegation is split on a push to ban trading of individual stocks among members of Congress.

According to the Bangor Daily News, Republican Sen. Susan Collins and Independent Sen. Angus King have not expressed support for the ban.

Instead, Sen. King says he’s reviewing current proposals, while Collins says current laws designed to prevent the use of insider knowledge for trading should be better enforced.

The paper writes that the pair are the only members of the state’s delegation to benefit from buying or selling individual stocks.

Democrat Rep. Chellie Pingree has voiced her support for a proposal that would require members to put investments in blind trusts.

Rep. Jared Golden favors a separate proposal that would place a ban on individual stock trading for lawmakers and their top staffers and prohibit them from serving on corporate boards.
