A former Franklin County prosecutor linked to a criminal conspiracy to sell marijuana in Maine will face sentencing on Wednesday.

According to the Sun Journal, 36-year-old Kayla Alves pleaded guilty in March to a federal charge of tampering with documents as part of a plea deal.

Alves was accused of telling a former officer he was under investigation and deleting text messages.

She’s one of a group of 12 people initially charged in 2020 for their role in a criminal conspiracy to cultivate and sell marijuana out of Farmington illegally. The group included members of law enforcement.

Alves’ attorney is requesting probation for his client, while prosecutors are seeking zero to six months of jail time.
