A registered Maine sex offender faces charges after police say he chased people, including children, around a Brunswick convenience store parking lot and threw things at them Wednesday afternoon.

Officers say they were called to the scene at the Circle K on Bath Road after several people had to take shelter inside the store until the suspect left the area.

They say they located and arrested 55-year-old Charles Davis a short time later on charges of failure to register as a sex offender, disorderly conduct and refusing to sign a criminal summons.

Brunswick Police say Davis is a lifetime registered sex offender with nine prior convictions for failing to register as a sex offender.

He was taken to the Cumberland County Jail with bail set at $5,000 cash.

Davis also has convictions for indecent exposure, according to the Maine Sex Offender Registry.
