SHAPLEIGH, Maine (WGAN)  A Shapleigh man has been arrested on domestic violence charge.

The York County Sheriff’s Office says around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday night, a woman called and reported she had been assaulted by her boyfriend, 28-year-old Nicholas Tapscott, earlier in the evening.  The victim told police she had been strangled and thrown against a wall.

The victim told police she was concerned about Tapscott because he had taken several firearms from the house and made comments about driving around to “kill people” and also made some “threatening, nonspecific” comments about the police.

Several deputies responded to the home and found his vehicle there.  Police say it’s uncertain if he ever left.  After several unsuccessful attempts to contact him by phone, police made contact using a cruiser public-address system and ordered him out of the house.

Tapscott complied and was arrested for domestic violence assault.  Police say two firearms were seized from the house.  They were given to other family members who lived nearby for safekeeping.

Tapscott is at York County Jail pending an arraignment hearing Friday.  No bail has been allowed.
