Shapleigh Woman Arrested for Burglary

SHAPLEIGH, Maine (WGAN)  A Shapleigh woman has been arrested for an overnight burglary.

The York County Sheriff’s Office says they were called around 2 a.m. Tuesday morning to a reported burglary on Newfield Road.

Deputies say Jennifer Walsh had two friends over and around 2 a.m., as she was about to give them a ride home, went across the street and went inside of an unsecured garage.  The resident at the home called the sheriff’s office.

The tenant of the home said she was woken up by the 34-year-old trying to get inside of the house, but it was locked.  The victim said she then looked outside and saw Walsh stealing a snowboard and ramps from the garage and put them into her vehicle.  Another tenant at the residence claimed the property was theirs and that they hadn’t given Walsh permission to take them.

Walsh told deputies she used to live at the burglarized house and left the snowboard and ramps when she moved 6-8 months before.  Police say Walsh had no explanation as to why she decided to retrieve the items in the middle of the night.

Police say the two male friends in Walsh’s car had not involvement with the theft.

Walsh was arrested and charged with burglary.  She was taken to York County Jail where bail was set at $3,000.
