The town manager in Skowhegan was under investigation for sexual exploitation before his death.

32-year-old Nicholas Nadeau of Winslow died last Thursday, with suicide believed to be the cause of death.

The Maine Department of Public Safety says Nadeau was named in an investigation launched earlier this month when a 14-year-old girl from Florida reported inappropriate communication with a man online.

Police say investigation was in the early stages when Nadeau died, and the case has been closed.
