Social Media, Tip From Concerned Citizen Lead to Child Abuse Arrest

BANGOR, Maine (WGAN) Bangor police say they’ve made an arrest related to alleged child abuse.

Sergeant Wade Betters of the Bangor Police Department says the suspected abuse was brought to their attention by a concerned citizen. The investigation was then opened on Wednesday evening. Investigators also reviewed a video posted online and used it to find those involved.

41-year-old Theodore Ellsworth of Bangor was taken into custody a few hours later. He’s been charged with domestic violence assault and is being held at the Penobscot County Jail. The Department of Health and Human Services was notified.

Police have not commented on the contents of the video or who posted it.
