CANAAN, Maine (WGAN) A Canaan woman who was struck by an SUV while walking her dog has died.

The Somerset County Sheriff’s Office says 59-year-old Diane Shea was walking along Brown’s Corner Rd. in Canaan around 5:30 p.m. when the accident happened.

Police say a 29-year-old driver heading east fatally struck the woman. They don’t believe speed, alcohol, or driver inattention were factors, but the crash is still under investigation.

The SUV driver was taken to the hospital but didn’t appear to have any injuries. The dog was not harmed.
