A man from South Carolina with an extensive criminal history has been arrested in connection with a bank robbery in Westbrook.

Police took into custody 61-year-old Jean Gendron on Thursday as he was getting off of a bus in New Hampshire.

Authorities claim that Gendron robbed the Chase Bank branch at Rock Row on Wednesday morning.

CBS 13 reports that police records indicate that, Gendron has a long history of bank robberies; having been arrested twice in North Carolina for similar offenses.

In both crimes, he has been accused of fleeing the scene in a stolen vehicle.

According to the police, his records also indicate that Gendron also has a history of Arson; having set his ex-girlfriend’s house on fire.

Gendron’s arrest follows the robbery of two Portland banks just days earlier.

Police have not yet confirmed any connection between those robberies and the Westbrook incident.
