The South Portland’s Food Cupboard hosted its third annual “Feeding Neighbors in Need” benefit concert Saturday night.

According to CBS 13, all proceeds went to the food pantry to help stock their shelves, which has seen a significant rise in need this year.

“We’re seeing the need just extremely exaggerated more now than ever before,” said Executive Director of the food cupboard, Dwayne Hopkins. “As a matter of fact, last year we fed some 12,000 people. This year, we’re on track to feed 20,000 people.”

The food cupboard estimates an extra $140,000 in food will be needed to cover the additional 8,000 people this year.

The concert, held at the Aura, was headlined by the Don Campbell band, who performed originals and covers for the event.
