South Portland High School is switching to an all-remote learning program due to an outbreak of COVID-19.

The Maine CDC notified the school district on Tuesday that it had identified one confirmed case of COVID-19 and one probable case of the virus.

It was declared an outbreak because there were two prior confirmed cases at the school, one on Nov. 12 and another on Nov. 18.

Superintendent Ken Kunin says the high school will be closed for in-person classes next week.

Students are scheduled to return to the classroom on Dec. 7.
