Activity is back to normal at Southern Maine Community College in South Portland after the school was placed in lockdown this morning due to a law enforcement situation on campus.

The college issued an alert around 9:15 urging students, staff, and visitors to shelter in place and lock doors until further notice.

The lockdown was lifted about a half hour later.

No additional details about the law enforcement situation have been released.

People had been asked to avoid the area while the lockdown was in effect.
