Speed, alcohol factors in crash that claimed life of teen in Baileyville, police say

A 15-year-old boy was killed in a crash in Baileyville Monday night.

In a press release, Maine Dept. of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss said that police believe speed and alcohol were factors in the crash.

Investigators say a 17-year-old from Baileyville was speeding when he lost control and went off Grand Falls Road.

The vehicle hit a culvert, flipped over and came to rest on its roof in 3 feet of water.

There were five other juveniles in the vehicle, including a 15-year-old boy who was ejected and pinned under the vehicle.

The 15-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other passengers were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
