Standish man charged with animal cruelty, accused of leaving kitten abandoned in parking lot


Police have arrested the suspect wanted in an animal cruelty investigation in Standish.

The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office says a kitten was found abandoned in a plastic tote Saturday morning in the parking lot at Bonny Eagle High School.

Police were looking for the driver of a vehicle that was linked to the investigation.

On Thursday, they said the suspect had been identified as 37-year-old Scott Wescott of Standish. He was charged with animal cruelty and will make his initial court appearance in July.
